Zurich overview

Zurich Travel Guide
Sitting on the shores of Lake Zurich and the banks of Limmat River, the town of Zurich is nowadays Switzerland’s sprawling sensation. Home to the county’s financial and economic sectors, Zurich has long since shed its lifeless ‘responsible big brother’ reputation that once plagued the city. Although Zurich is still remarkably clean, well-organised and almost eerily tranquil at times, its charisma and energy has slowly begun to blossom over the past two decades. Today, visitors to the city are greeted by an envious blend of traditional structures, medieval architecture, vibrant night spots, and a modernistic ambience unrivaled in Switzerland. Transforming from the boring town of ‘no-go’ to a city of ‘mojo’ has sparked new life into Zurich and the crowds that visit. It’s just a shame this fresh bastion of verve took so long to wake up! Places of particular interest include the Old Town, Lake Promenade and Bahnhofstrasse.
