Montreux overview

Montreux Travel Guide
Montreux is an often overlooked town on the opposite side of Lake Geneva. It has an enviable, eye-watering setting on the eastern bank of the lake, about an hour from Geneva, and is a lot less in-your-face touristy, yet no less beautiful, than Geneva. In fact, the setting is quite outstanding, strewn as it is across a hillside down to the lake with snow-capped peaks in the background. Montreux is especially known for its festivals, in particular the annual Jazz Festival, while the Ch?teau de Chillon is a major landmark down at the lake. In addition, there are also some fine hiking trails in the Hauts de Montreux, along with more than a few vineyards to discern. Geneva Cointrin International Airport is the way in and is an hour away by train.
